Dentures

Dentures

Dentures are a removable dental appliance that are employed to replace missing teeth and gum tissue. At East Village Dental, we specialize in both partial and complete dentures. Complete dentures are the preferred solution when all of the teeth have been lost or need to be removed. Partial dentures are the best choice when some teeth are still in place in the mouth.

Among the dental solutions we offer for those in need of dentures are:

  • Traditional partial or complete dentures
  • Valplast or metal-free esthetic dentures
  • Implant supported dentures

To ensure your ideal denture fit and functionality, we work with denture specialists to help you achieve your perfect smile.

Your dental professional may recommend one of the following types of dentures for you:

  • Traditional Partial Dentures
Traditional partial dentures are typically replacement teeth connected to a plastic base that is the colour of your gums for the most natural appearance. These dentures are most often recommended for people who still have some of their own teeth in the upper or lower jaw. The partial denture serves to fill in the gaps left by the missing teeth and also ensures that the teeth still in place in the jaw do not shift position. Partial dentures can be made to be completely removable, attaching to the teeth through small internal clasps instead of crowns which attach to the adjacent teeth.
  • Complete Dentures
Complete dentures replace all natural teeth and cover the entire upper or lower jaw. These dentures rest directly on the gum and provide support for the cheeks and lips.Complete dentures are typically put in place once the mouth has healed from the extraction of all of the teeth. This is most often done at eight to 12 weeks post surgery.
  • Valplast® Dentures
Another type of partial dentures, Valplast dentures are an attractive option if you are looking for a tooth replacement option that offers you the maximum of comfort at an affordable price. Valplast dentures are comprised of a thermoplastic nylon resin. The advantage to this type of denture is that the appliance is thin, lightweight, and flexible. They attach to the teeth through a set of gum or tooth coloured clasps around the teeth still in position in the jaw. Since no steel is used in the construction of Valplast dentures, this type of tooth replacement is the perfect choice if you suffer from allergies to metal.
  • Metal-free esthetic dentures
If you suffer from allergies to metal or you find traditional dental appliances have an off-putting metallic taste, metal-free esthetic dentures are the ideal solution for you. Metal-free esthetic dentures can be made in partial or complete varieties to suit your specific dental needs. The advantages to this type of dental appliance goes far beyond the esthetic. Metal-free esthetic dentures are durable, flexible, and precise to ensure your perfect fit.
Sedation Dentistry

Many people suffer severe anxiety at the thought of going to the dentist. To help ease the nervousness and fear of our patients, we offer sedation dentistry at East Village Dental. Sedation dentistry is available for procedures as simple as a regular cleaning or for more complicated dental issues like invasive surgeries. Whether you are young or enjoying your senior years, you are a candidate for sedation dentistry if your anxiety makes it difficult for you to endure the procedures you need for optimal oral health.

Sedation dentistry is a medication that assists patients with achieving a relaxed state prior to undergoing dental cleanings or procedures. East Village Dental offers oral sedatives. In the form of a pill, the oral sedatives are easy to take and will help you feel calm and relaxed during your appointment.

Oral Sedatives—What are They?

Oral sedatives range in intensity from mild to moderate. Mild oral sedation is given in pill form. Most commonly, the medication administered for mild oral sedation is Halcion, a drug found in the same family as Valium. Larger doses of this same medication can be given to induce moderate sedation. Oral sedation may cause you to fall into a deep sleep, but you can easily be awakened by a gentle shake if necessary.
