What is a Dental Emergency?

Not every dental problem can truly be considered an emergency. If you’re not sure whether or not you need to be seen by a dentist immediately or if your problem can wait for a scheduled appointment, we can help you decide. Here are some key questions to ask yourself to determine if you need immediate dental assistance:

  • Is your pain severe?
Any time you experience severe pain, and particularly if it is accompanied by bleeding, you are in need of emergency dental care.
  • Did you lose a tooth?
If you have lost a tooth or have a tooth that is barely hanging on, it is a good idea to call for emergency treatment. We may be able to help you save your tooth.
  • Are any of your teeth loose?
Adult teeth should not be loose. If yours are, please call for an emergency appointment.
  • Is there any possibility you have an infection?
Abscesses, severely unpleasant breath, or other signs of infection are all emergency situations. Swelling of the gums and face are also very serious and require immediate attention from a dental professional. Infections can be life-threatening. If you are experiencing any of these problems, your dental issue is an emergency.
  • Are you bleeding?
If you are bleeding from your mouth, this may indicate an emergency. Contact us right away for assistance.

If you are experiencing any of the following dental problems, please call East Village Dental immediately for an emergency visit:
